Privacy Policy — What If VOO
Last updated: July 19, 2026
What If VOO is a browser extension that shows shopping prices as equivalent shares of an ETF (default: VOO).
Data we access
- Website content: The content script reads visible price text on pages you visit in order to display conversion badges and the app dock.
- Storage: Settings (symbol, toggles, license key) are stored in Chrome sync/local storage on your device / Google account sync. The what-if cart (prices you manually add) is stored in local storage only.
- Network: The extension requests public market data from Yahoo Finance chart endpoints to obtain the selected ticker’s price and approximate 1-year return. Quotes are cached locally for about one hour.
Data we do not collect
- We do not operate a What If VOO analytics backend in this version.
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use your browsing history to build advertising profiles.
- License keys are validated locally. If you later use a payment provider (e.g. Lemon Squeezy / Gumroad), their privacy policy applies to checkout.
Third parties
- Yahoo Finance (unofficial public chart API): ticker quotes / history.
- Google Fonts (optional, popup UI): font files.
- Affiliate / product links you click: governed by those sites.
